Phnom Phnom Phnom!
Day 9: Exploring Phnom Penh
This morning Dave came out with us and he showed us this awesome bagel place for breakfast and they were sooooo good. We had cream cheese and sundried tomato. So phnom.
We went back to the riverside to get a letter from the bus company that croutons phone got stolen from, for travel insurance. And after much explaining and waiting we met with the owner of the company and he wrote us a letter. Yay!
Then we visited one of the main Buddhist temples in the city - Wat Phnom. It was really nice, huge Buddha display and lots of murals to look at.
After that we went to the Central markets and did a bit more shopping!
I bought some Vans sneakers for $15 and i’m pretty sure they are real ones haha. Then Dave left to go rest (he was still sick) and we went to the Royal palace.
Apparently its not as nice as the Bangkok Grand Palace so i suppose I will have to see that next time i’m in Thailand. The Palace was huge and pretty nice but it mainly just had old artifacts from previous royals. The buildings you could go inside were quite old looking, old carpet and tiles but I think it would have been pretty nice in the 60’s, haha. The gardens were really nice though but again not amaaazing. You will see pictures.
Theeen we went back to Daves and chilled for a bit and decided we wanted Thai for din - (Cambodian food isnt the best, it lacks flavour. Have you ever seen a Khmer restaurant anywhere…?) So we walked to a place close by and it was soooo good. I was finally getting my appetite back since being sick but I still only ate about half. We all had tofu red curry and lime sodas. Mmm
On the way home we bought some cheap dvd’s- hopefully they work. We went to bed earlyish because we ha to wake up at 4am to get the bus to Ho Chi minh!
