Day 6- Po Po
So we arrived this morning to Sihanoukville with no phone of Croutons so after a shower at the hostel we were staying at and gooling what we needed for travel insurance, we walked back to the bus station to try and get a letter from the bus company. Of course, no one spoke English (besides what they needed to know to sell a bus ticket) so we were there trying to explain for like 10 minutes before a young girl who knew slightly more english could help us, and after even more bad translations it was decided they couldnt write us a letter and we needed to go to their main office far away… So we decided we would go to the office when we got to Phnom penh and just try and get a police report here. So we walked back to the nearby police station and the nice young policeman was very helpful and said he would take us to the main station to fill in a report! Yay, finally some progress!
We were looking around for a police car that he would take us in until he walked up to and hopped on a small motorbike….! He motioned for us to get on and we kind of were just nervously giggling the whole time and managed to all fit on, with our day packs and all. It was the scariest 5 minute ride ever. I felt like when he leaned to turn that i would fall off! He drove very slow and carfully but just being 3 of us on this bike… I was holding on so tight haha.
When we finally got there the main Police man said to come back at 2.30 to do the report. Ahh so annoying.
We walked back to our hostel, (he didnt even offer to take us! Probably due to our nerves) and decided to go to the beach while we waited. So we walked down to the closest beach to us, which was kind of dirty and gross but we walked up further and it was pretty nice! Clearish warm water, deck chairs to lay on (if you bought something from the shop behind them) and yeah! Went for a swim, had a drink, a tan then went back to the police station.
The police guy made us wait with this english guy who had his camera stolen and was telling us that sometimes you have to bribe them for a report.
When we got to see the main police officer we told him our story and he pretty much said we should have been more careful and that we were stupid haha… He took us into his office and gave Croute a form to fill out and he went on his computer and started playing bejeweled while he waited. They took her fingerprint, signed the form and we were done! Finally!
So then back to the beach we went, this time to the super touristy beach which was nicer but full of foreigners!
Laid there for a while then went back to the hostel and had dinner and and a drink with our friend we made in Siem Reap and then it was time to sleeeeep.
Well… So I thought.
