Day 4: Angkor Wat at sunrise.

5am- Still dark outside, the two of us and our two new companions (Tak and Baba) climbed into our sleepy tuk tuk and headed for Angkor wat. When we got there we realised we would be walking through the first gate of the temple in the dark so pulled out our torches and followed the crowd. There were about 500 like minded tourists who wanted to see the beauty that was the Angkor temple at sunrise.
As usual we had the young children approach us and ask “Lady you want tea coffee breakfast you buy from me okay i am lilly shop number 9 dont forget okay you buy from me meals from $1!”
We actully had no water so we got her to bring us some water and show us the best spot for the sunrise.
After about half an hour of anticipation the sun finally began to reflect in the clouds beautiful pink and purple colours. It was a beautiful and spiritual moment. Cameras were clicking non stop -beeps, ticks, flashes and tripods being adjusted to get the perfect shot. But it was easy to ignore the cameras with the beauty in front of you.
After the sun had completely risen we explores the intricatly carved temple and climbed to the very top seeing the most amazing view of the inner and outer walls.
We then returned to Miss Lyly, as the sign read under store number 9, and ordered fried potato and egg, which turned out to be chips and egg and way too greasy.

We found the boys and our tuk tuk driver and set off around the rest of the temples. We had spent 3 hours alone at Angkor wat so we were all already pretty tired.

We went through another temple that had been used as a sort of Buddhist University, which was pretty interesting. I think that one was called Preah kan.

So much more climbing and exploring temples finally lead us back to home and showers and rest. Crouton wasnt feeling too well in her stomach so after we went to get a small dinner at a street vendor we just went back to the hotel and fell asleep around 8ish. I guess a 4am start does that. Poor Croute was up half the night vomiting though, we arent sure what from but she is better now so thats all that matters! :)
