Day 3- Ankor temples!
So the guys we met also stayed at the same acommodation as us, and we organised to go on a tuk tuk around the temples together!
One of the guys met another old guy on the train too so there were five of us on a tuk tuk which was a bit squished, and the old guy was a bit strange but it was fine.
I cant specifically remember the names of the temples we saw that day because I dont have a map, but i will do my best to describe them.
The first thing we saw was a gate. Pretty tall but just like anicient ruined archway. But it was the first thing we saw so we went photo crazy, which is funny to think now after everything we have seen.
The next temple is one of my favourites, it was massive and like a maze, we could climb to the top of parts of it and there are lite buddhas inside you can put insense in front of aaand yeah. Just really awesome. Then we went to go to another huge one but you had to have long pants and shoulders covered, which we didnt so we couldnt go to it! Sad.
I guess describing each temple is a little boring of me so here are my favourite things about temples: the really steep ruined old stairs to the top - kinda scary - but satisfying plus a really great view from the top always. I also love all the huge windows and the way the light hits the stone and the carvings and scripture aaand when its huuge and not just set out in a square. Yep. It makes me feel like indiana jones.
After 7 hours of temple conquering we were exhausted and had showers and rest then went had had dinner by the night markets! I had a cambodian dish called beef lok lok which was pretty good it was like beef in a yummy sauce and rice and salad, and then a kind of pepper sauce on the side which was yummy. We also had $2 cocktails and then shopped around the markets for a bit and got street pancakes with banana and nutella! So yum.
Then collapsed and fell asleep until our 4.30am awakening for sunrise at Ankor Wat!
