Day 16:
It was raining again today which was pretty sad… But the beach was still gorgeous! I’ll have to go back when its not rain season. We got a free buffet breakfast which was awesome.. Skinny pancakes are quite popular in Africa and they put nutella or honey on them. Mmmmmm
We did a snorkelling trip today, on the same dowa as the sunset cruise so that was cool… It was the funniest experience… Pouring rain an everyone was freezing and trying to stay dry!! I was the only one embracing it, just had my togs on and sitting in the rain - it wasnt that cold haha. It was a pretty long boat ride to the snorkelling spot though so by the time we got there we were all drenched and just wanted to jump in the warm water… It was sooo nice and clear and warm! I wanted to stay longer but we were probably only snorkelling for half an hour, maybe 45 mins max.. Because it was raining :( but underwater it was beautiful, lots of fishies and and coral (not as nice as the great barrier reef of course!) but still, i could snorkel forever I love seeing everything down there :)
Aaanyways after that we were meant to go to this beach on a little island and have lunch and it took us like 15 minutes to wade from the boat across to the shore through like 2 feet deep water that you couldnt walk on for the rocks… And then we get to the shore and they didnt have a lighter and it was raining haha! so we were there for like 10 minutes and then just went back to the boat and went back to the main land and ate some pineapple on the boat… So it was a bit of a dud day trip but funny/memorable nonetheless. We all had hot showers and then just had a relaxing day.. Went and had lunch at a cocktail bar and some cocktails and used their free wifi!
Had a nap back in the room, used more wifi, had another cocktail, dinner and then bed! Was a pretty relaxing afternoon which was good because I was starting to feel a bit sick…

Day 17:

Back to Stonetown today! Bright and early… Steph and I had a nap when we got back to the hotel aaand went back to the Indian place - Silk Route, for lunch. It was awesome but again I was sick which put a slight damper on things… And I will stop mentioning the sick now.  We went looking at all the little shops and wandering down all the narrow cobblestone streets, watching locals and taking everything in… It almost felt like we were in the middle east with all of the muslims and the arabic feel to the buildings and doors especially. It was a really cool town and im sure even more so when its not raining… Although the rain was kinda cool too, haha.
We bought a few souveniers and watched the sunset on the beach and had a drink at the beachside bar… then went back to the hotel room for a shower and another nap… Then realised we should probably eat so we went back to the Africa club to the rooftop restaurant and watched the stars reflecting on the ocean while we had some pasta. Surprisingly it was cheap, even though the place was sooo swanky. I would definitely go back to Zanzibar one day… It’s so different from anywhere else I can imagine.

Day 18: Another driving day! We left Zanzibar pretty early and caught the ferry back to Dar es Salaam. When we got there Peterson our driver was waiting there with our big overland truck and we were all so excited to see it!! It really had become our little home on the road where we could just sit back and relax, and enjoy the bumpy ride.
We drove a lot today and ended up in Korongwe which was a nice little random campsite and ate at a sort of truck stop buffet thing for dinner.. Which was just like rice and soup and stuff… But there was wifi! Aaand a million moquitos.. I think Steph had 13 bites that night haha.. I hope she is still taking her malaria pill! Anyways there were lots of bugs so I pretty much just went to bed after that, haha!
